英语连写句（run-on sentence）：如何识别和改正

连写句（run-on sentence）不只是“很长的句子”。它是把两个（或更多）完整的句子挤在一起，中间缺少本该把它们分开的标点。

什么是连写句？ #

I finished the report I sent it to my manager.

I finished the report 和 I sent it to my manager 都是完整的句子。它们之间没有任何分隔，读者读到这里就会卡住。

与它很相近的是逗号拼接（comma splice），也就是只用一个逗号连接两个句子。可以阅读什么是逗号拼接。

长句不等于连写句 #

下面这个长句不是连写句，因为它连接得正确：

Although the deadline was tight and the team was small, we finished the report, checked every number, and sent it to the client before noon.

改正连写句的 4 种方法 #

1. 加句号。

I finished the report. I sent it to my manager.

2. 加分号。

I finished the report; I sent it to my manager.

3. 加逗号和连词（and, but, so, or, yet）。

I finished the report, and I sent it to my manager.

4. 改写句子，让其中一部分从属于另一部分。

After I finished the report, I sent it to my manager.

如何识别连写句 #

读句子时，找出新的主语和动词开始的地方（I sent、she said、it was）。如果它和前面的部分之间没有任何分隔，你就找到了一个连写句。
